This evening I met with several lovely people in a Miss Alli’s meeting in the cozy setting of Panera Bread. A couple familiar faces (including my mother…I’ve seen her before, somewhere….) and a few new ones provided great fun, entertainment, and even accomplishments. We discussed several things and, I do believe, made some good headway.
One of our main topics was fundraisers. As you all know, itty bitty rescue has an itty bitty checking account for mongo, enormo dogs. Obviously the two do not go hand in hand. So, we started off by saying “Fundraisers!” (Original, eh?) From that point on we tossed things back and forth, threw ideas up in the air, and inserted a few doggy stories in between. Everyone was taking notes (we really looked official!), suggesting this or that, and even taking on a responsibility or two. They behaved so much better than the dogs do when I order them around!
We also discussed our needs in terms of products, foster homes, marketing, and how to throw a good party so people will enjoy helping rescue. So many different topics, both broad and specific, and everyone wholeheartedly enjoying the thought of helping the animals. What a GREAT group we had for the meeting!
It was a blessing to have such pleasant participants offering their help. I enjoyed talking with them all, as well as joking around and just having fun…and of course eating. Eating is always a plus…especially when they throw in a 99 cent pastry with your sandwich (and I now slip off to dreamland while my mouth waters for a cheese danish….). Most of all, it was great to interact and get to know others who love the idea of helping animals and saving lives. With so many negatives in the day to day game of it all, meeting with those who have a passion like my own is encouraging, refreshing and rejuvenating. When I left the meeting, despite it being a bit longer due to the focus of brainstorming, I felt so revived! I thought to myself…we can do this…we can accomplish, we can grow and we can do it by working together. It’s been a long time since I felt that way, for the simple reason that I carry the majority of it on my own. That’s not a complaint, mind you, as that’s what I’ve chosen to do if something needed to be done…meaning, I got myself into this, so I’d best hush up and do it. ๐ Yet sitting there I knew that this was God’s little way of reminding me that there are good people who want to be a part of such a wonderful charity…helping animals.
I like those types of people. ๐
As a result, we have our 2nd meeting set up, and we all have our homework. Who knows…maybe before too long we’ll be so big that we can have online conferences and involve people in Canada and Europe!!!
Okay, I’m reaching, but hey…maybe one day, right? ๐
More to come…trouble lurks just around the corner….
Stay tuned!!! ๐
